Projects - Africa

 

Most recent project: Somalia

 Adroit have been working on Somalia since September 2015 with Altai Consulting (Nairobi Office). The project has focused mainly on a programme involving rehabilitation work among the local people, overseeing protection of their human rights. It has also included evaluating the Conflict Security and Stability Fund human rights programme and working with the British High Commission in Nairobi to develop their human rights results frameworks and strategy.

 

Evaluation of FCO funded Project

 

In 2016, Adroit evaluated five years of FCO funded work by the Association for the Prevention of Torture. This covered 19 countries and involved field visits to South Africa (as well as Morocco and Myanmar).

 

Other projects include:

 

•Review, reorganisation and support to Short Wave Radio Africa for the Africa Conflict Prevention Pool

 

•Detailed evaluation of substantial torture rehabilitation project and prevalence of political violence in Zimbabwe for USAID, Sida, the FCO and Government of Norway

 

•Evaluation of Zimbabwe Doctors for Human Rights for Zimbiala Trust

 

•Preparation of strategic plan for Africa Conflict Prevention Pool for regional work on Zimbabwe

 

•Scoping study and identification of potential human rights work for HMG in Ethiopia

 

•Organising and monitoring training course on forensic medical and legal detection of torture, for members of the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission

 

•Scoping study to identify human rights and governance work for the British Council in Uganda
